Legislative UpdateOn May 15, 2007 HB4770, HB4771, and HB4772 were introduced in the Michigan House of Representatives This three-bill package will establish the licensing of interior designers in Michigan. The bills are sponsored by State Representatives Bill Huizenga (R) and Andy Meisner (D). Co-sponsors of these bills include State Representatives Aldo Vagnozzi, Andy Coulouris, Bert Johnson, Lee Gonzales, Gino Polidori, George Cushingberry, Robert Jones, Mary Valentine, Mark Meadows, Matthew Gillard, Gabe Leland, Dudley Spade, Arlan Meekhof, Neal Nitz, Jim Marleau, Kim Meltzer, Judy Emmons, John Stahl, Glenn Steil, Tom Pearce, John Stakoe and Rick Jones. On September 11, 2007 HB4770, HB4771, and HB4772 received a hearing before the House Commerce Committee. On October 9, 2007 HB4770, HB4771, HB4772 voted out the House Commerce Committee: 13 YEAS – 5 NAYS – 1 PASS On October 11, 2007 HB4770, HB4771, HB4772 passed on the House floor: HB4770 - 76 YEAS 31 NAYS HB4771 - 65 YEAS 42 NAYS HB4772 - 72 YEAS 35 NAYS HB4770, HB4771, HB4772 have been referred to the Senate Committee of Commerce and Tourism and are awaiting a hearing date to be scheduled.
